Colossians 3:15

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15

Sometimes I like to look up a verse in different translations. Sometimes, the use of a specific word or the way it's phrased brings on a whole new meaning. My go-to translation is New International Version for it's beautiful phrasing, but I also love The Message because of it's clear, no-nonsense wording.

Here's Colossians 3:15 in The Message:

Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness.

I like the way it says that we should be in tune and in step with other Christians. Sometimes, that's not so easy. We all have our own ideas of how things should be done and it's easy to get frustrated or angry with others who disagree. When that happens, we need to look back on this verse, take a breath, and strive to follow Paul's guidance.
