Luke 9:23

Then he said to them all: "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me."

Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. Luke 9:23

Jesus said the same thing over and over: follow me. And throngs followed Him. I always wonder what would cause them to leave their everyday lives behind and pursue the unknown. Probably the same things that cause us to turn to Jesus - an empty place in our hearts that we yearn to fill, a belief that there's more to life than just existing, a promise of eternal life, among other needs that we think Jesus can fulfill.

So, if 2,000 years ago, men and women walked away from their familiar and secure lives to follow a man with some pretty crazy talk, why can't we let Jesus lead us in our day-to-day lives? I challenge you to start every day saying "You lead, Jesus. I'll follow."

Exodus 34:6

The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.

The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. This is how our God describes Himself. Compassionate. Gracious. Slow to anger. Loving. Faithful.

Wouldn't it be awesome to have a friend that you could describe in that way? You do! I never cease to be amazed when I think that God, the creator of everything, wants to have a personal relationship with me. With me! But He does and He wants to be your friend, too.
